Welcome

Bantu is a lifestyle brand that infuses African textiles with contemporary styles. Originating in Canada, Bantu was created by two sisters who wanted to reconnect with their roots. We hope that Bantu is a testimony that no matter where you are now, or how far you've strayed from home, you can always find your way back; Wherever that is to you.

Welcome Bantu, welcome home.

FOR THE CULTURE

Head wraps have long been a part of African/black culture. On top of their practical use to protect the hair and scalp of or African ancestors from the hot sun; headwraps were also used to communie a person's age, wealth, ethnicity, and marital status. As the black diaspora grew and spread across the world head wraps began to take on different styles and meanings as each unique black culture carved out their own wrapping style.

Whether you call it gele, duku, doek, kitambala, or a head wrap we hope you wear your crown with pride. Knowing that from skin to marrow, you are magic.
